Fine tea, with a caveat.
4 out of 5 stars
Fine tea, with a caveat.
The taste is a bit different than the caffeinated version; a little more rustic in flavor. But it's still a smooth cup. However, I've read that others have gripes about production quality in their reviews (the bags are being sealed over the tag, etc.), and I have one myself: most of the tea bag strings fall off as I try to steep them in the cup. Have you ever tried to fish out a teabag from a cup of scolding hot water?! Not exactly a picnic, ladies and germs. So it would be greatly appreciated if the good folks at Stash get their act together and start doing some quality control monitoring with these bags. I'd like to drink the tea, not fight with it.

I used to drink Lipton's Decaf Green Tea, until I learned about all the chemicals and pesticides that most tea brands contain.
I've learned it's not only the tea that is filled with chemicals, it's the tea bags too.
I started looking for a Decaf Green Tea that is organic. I discovered the Stash brand and contacted them via their website to inquire about the tea bags. They promptly responded and informed me that their tea bags are paper and do not contain the dangerous chemical (epichlorohydrin).
So they pass the healthier choice test, but what about the taste? I decided to give it a try and order this 100 count box from Amazon. WOW! This tea is so smooth! If it were alcohol it would be dangerous! Doesn't have the bitter taste that I found with Lipton.
I like to travel with tea bags so I can always have my healthier beverage choice on hand. Recently, on vacation I stayed at my niece's house. I made a gallon sized batch of this tea as iced tea. My niece and nephew-in-law tried it and they are hooked too! They had to know what brand it was so they could always have it on hand. Thanks to Amazon Prime I had their own box shipped to their address in two days.
    Love this tea!!!
    My iced tea recipe...
In a gallon pitcher, add 10 tea bags and fill with water (I use purified drinking water), then place in refrigerator. The longer the tea bags steep in the pitcher of water the stronger the taste.
If a 2 quart pitcher is used, then add 5 tea bags instead.

This is a great decaf green tea. I decided to start drinking green tea due to its purported benefits of prevention of breast cancer, which runs rampant in my family. I have to drink a decaf product, which is unfortunate as some of the beneficial properties of green tea are removed with the caffeine. After some research, I found out that there are several "natural" methods of decaffeination and that one involves actually using "natural" but not necessarily safe chemicals. Probably the safest method is a process which involves using carbon dioxide. I emailed Stash about this product and within an hour received a very informative, personalized email describing the process they use, which is the CO2 process and the best as not only does it not use chemicals, but the antioxidant properties of green tea are diminished less with this process than others. Since I am drinking green tea solely for the health benefits and not the taste, that is important to me. I think it tastes great for a decaff tea. It is not strong and has a mild slightly bitter taste. I add a little peppermint tea and honey to it and it is super tasty. I am impressed with this tea and company and will continue to order from them.

This decaf really disappointed me, esp. given the other glowing reviews. It does not appear green, nor does it taste "green" (ie: doesn't have that fresh "grassy" flavor many describe as found in an authentic Japanese green tea). Actually, this could be a good paring with seafood, because I sometimes detect a slight fishiness in the taste. Yuk. Stash Decaf Green, the non-organic, non-premium tea, is actually a little better than this one. What people like is a matter of personal taste, but I won't ever buy this tea again.

NOTE: I posted the following review under the non-decaf organic green tea product as well, because it applies to both products.

As a long-time Stash green tea drinker, I thought I'd give the organic range a try. Although the tea tastes fine, the quality control of the manufacturing process is not good. That's why I've rated the product so low. I bought a hundred-count box of regular organic green tea and decaffeinated organic green tea. In both boxes, perhaps 10% - 12% of the bags were sealed into the adhesive holding the foil packets together. When I open those packets up, I can pull the tea bag out, and if I pull the packet apart to free the tea bag inside, the bag is glued/pressed into the foil paper of the packet and unusable.

In my experience, Stash has always produced a quality product, but they obviously have some work to do on the quality control of the organic green tea production line. I know I'll be returning to their regular green tea range with my next order.

I find this tea to have a slightly harsh taste so I decided to try it as an ice tea and find it tastes much better that way. I doubt if I will order it again.

I use this to make iced green tea which I try to drink 4 8 oz of each day. It's easy with this product. I wanted organic because of the amount I drink. I use 10 cups of boiling distilled water and add 5 tea bags. I let that steep around 5 to 10 minutes. It's perfect. A few times I have forgotten that I was steeping tea and left the bags in a few hours!! No problem with this tea. It still come out perfect without any bitterness. I have this on automatic delivery once a month (I think). I like having the extra as it seem to encourage me to drink more. I would recommend this product to any friend.

I'm so glad I purchased this tea. This is the first green tea I have found to have all my requirements. Taste is delicious. Flavor is strong, not weak. It's also very smooth. And most of all the price is very reasonable. Best of all I can brew two cups of tea with one tea bag and not lose any of the benefits mentioned above..I have already started recommending it to all my family and friends who drink green tea.

Both my husband and I started to drink organic decaffeinated tea a few months ago. After a lot of research I learnt that the best decaffeinated tea to buy would be one that wasn't decaffeinated using chemicals, but using carbon dioxide CO2; the same compound that plants breathe in daily. It was very difficult to find green decaffeinated tea here in the UK that used the CO2 method and was organic as well.

Luckily I came across Stash Tea Organic Premium Green Decaffeinated, which is very nice. I was paying quite a bit for it, though. However, after a couple of months I was delighted to find it in Amazon.co.uk at a very good price. I now subscribe to receive it on a regular basis and even get 10% off. Brilliant. Thank you Amazon.co.uk.
