I have purchased this product directly from the producer in 10 pound amounts for free shipping. When I saw I could get two pounds on Amazon and not pay shipping, I was delighted. However, I think this may be another of those cases where producers and suppliers get rid of their less than perfect product through Amazon. These Amazon nuts are not rejects by any means; they're still very good nuts and if I'd never purchased directly from the producer, I'd probably have 5-starred them. But the one's purchased through Amazon were slightly over-roasted for my taste, and not quite as fresh. Someone else may have preferred them. My husband, usually quite fussy and opinionated, didn't notice the difference. The difference might just be due to the extra time taken to pass through the Amazon warehouse.
2/7/14 update: The personal response from Doug Braga convinced me that the variation in the product wasn't due to the Amazon supply chain, but just a variation. At any rate, I have not found better organic cashews anywhere.
