A staple in my home since 2013
5 out of 5 stars
A staple in my home since 2013
I just checked my order history and realized I have been consistently using Frontier hibiscus since 2013. It’s organic and always high-quality. Hibiscus tea is wonderful for controlling blood pressure and contains lots of antioxidants. We drink it daily. We also use it as a base for mock tails, adding kombucha, pomegranate juice, citrus, juice, etc. I brought it on the counter by the pitcher, like a sun tea. When I pour it, I use a small strainer. Lately I’ve been adding lemon verbena mixture to the brew, which is also delicious. I highly recommend. Also, it is much more cost-effective than buying red singer or hibiscus teabags.

This Hibiscus tea from Frontier is BY FAR the BEST Hibiscus tea I have ever tasted. It is fresh and strong. No stale flavor at all, and I don't need to use as much for a delightful cup of tea as with other brands I've tried. Frontier products are always wonderful!

Makes a great ice tea for the summer months. It's healthier (no added sugar OR fake flavorings) than the typical 'cola' drinks, and I usually add a few drops of stevia liquid. I sometimes make it 'concentrated' and add ice and carbonated water. In the winter, it's just as refreshing as a hot tea, and I sometimes make it mixed with rooibos tea. This brand is very good, and I not hesitate to buy it again.

Excellent! What can I really say? The flowers are very potent, I could smell the power when I opened the bag. Even if I use a full tablespoon at a time, there are still over 100 servings, so its very cost efficient. Will it actually help with blood pressure? I don't know but it certainly cannot hurt! This is the third time I've ordered a bulk herb from Frontier and the price/potency has been excellent each time!

This is the brand to buy. I have tried several different brands in the local grocery stores. And while I have found several brands which were less expensive (1 pound for $5), the old saying is true, "you get what you pay for". The other brands were gritty (seems like they weren't sifted at all) and had a "dirty" kind of taste, kind of disgusting really. THIS Frontier band is my brand from now on!

    UPDATE:
I was admitted into the hospital in January of this year (2017). My blood pressure was 200 (and something) over 100. I think it was like 211/100. I had gotten lazy and was taking my hibiscus tea once every other day.
I ended up n the hospital in January for three days, during that time they gave me aspirin and blood pressure drugs like three times a day. When I was released I was prescribed Benazepril 5-40MG. I also started drinking a hot (not boiled, but hot) water extraction glass of these flowers twice a day. I take about 6 teaspoons of flowers, throw them in a boiler containing simmering water, cover with a lid and let it all simmer for 5 minutes. Then, I remove the boiler from the heat and let it all cool on the counter for about 30 minutes. Then, I pour it all into a pitcher (including the boiled flowers, unstrained) and let it all sit overnight. Using this method I get the benefits of hot extraction plus maybe half the benefits of cold extraction. (Cold extraction is supposed to be for 24 hours.) I drink at least a glass a day although I try to get two or three into me.

I had a checkup on June 15. My BP was 122/75. My doctor asked me what else I took because he knew the Benazepril alone did not knock it down that much from the last reading he did, which was in the 170's in January, when he was trying to get the prescription right. The bottom line is this. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THIS FOR BLOOD PRESSURE CONTROL, BE RELIGIOUS IN USING IT. USE IT AT LEAST TWICE A DAY --->EVERY DAY <---.

Now, to be fair, I did take a few other things, but none of them religiously like I did the hibiscus flowers. And I don't think I took them often enough to make a difference, I'm talking about stuff I took once a week or so. Those other two things were Kyolic garlic and CoQ10.

Here's the thing, my BP is down, but I gained 20 pounds in those four months (and I actually tried to eat healthier). I just researched and it turns out, Benazepril has two of the side effects, weight gain and swelling. I think I'm going to go to a full 3 glass a day regimen of hibiscus, make sure I take 200 mg of Co10, and cut then Benazepril to every OTHER day.

Also note, my doctor also prescribed a "statin" drug for cholesterol, which is one reason I started taking the CoQ10. It turns out my cholesterol was good, he said its just standard procedure to prescribe a statin when a patient has a bp that high. He said I really don't have to take the statin, so I'm DEFINITELY flushing those down the toilet err..., ah, I mean "disposing of them properly"! Nature always has an answer. The answer may not be the same thing or in the same amount for everybody. But unless its purely a manmade condition, nature has an answer! For high blood pressure Hibiscus Flower is part of the answer! At least for me anyway!

    UPDATE June 7, 2024
I still make my blood pressure tea with these flowers (nearly) ever day! I'm black and I weigh 420lbs, Anytime I goto a new doctor and they take my blood pressure they do a double take because they assume I have high blood pressure. I went to the dentist last week and my pressure was 115/59!! I'm usually in the 130/75 range. When I slack off for 4 days or so, I climb back into the 170/80 range.
    My usual rountine is:
MORNING: 1 glass of cold brewed hisbiscus flower tea and 1 capsule of beet root powder.
BEDTIME: 1 glass of cold brewed hisbiscus flower tea, 1 capsule of beet root powder and my prescription pill of Amlodipine Benazepril 10-40MG. That's it! I hope this helps someone out there dealing with high blood pressure.
Now one thing I have noticed is my last two batched of Frontier Hisbiscus Flowers have been ground up finely, almosst like coffee grinds. It used to be nice flower petals. I take this as negative. Seems to be grinding the petal prematurely would lead to more oxidation? I don't know for sure, but I haven't found a better tasting brand yet so I will continue using this.

Reviewed in Canada on May 12, 2019
It is delicious and the Frontier Co-op product is full of flowers and bits so I don't even need a strainer. It is VERY good value compared to the boxed tea bags which are ground to a fine powder. I prefer loose tea. Hibiscus flower tea is recommended to lower your blood pressure and can be served hot or cold. I brew it up in a 3-cup Brown Betty and drink it after dinner to relax and I usually have a cup left to heat up in the morning. It arrived as promised very well packaged. I will be buying again from Frontier.

Made my first small cup of this lovely tart like tea and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was! I am going very slowly with this 'herbal medicine' to watch for any signs of side effects which is possible for some people drinking it. I did a lot of research on hibiscus tea before I had decided on purchasing this product and I am pleased with the flavor/taste of it. My plan is to drink it occasionally instead of drinking it for medical reasons. As with any food or drink moderation is the key.;-)

I rarely write reviews, but I was very happy with this product. Great flavour and fast shipping. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and wanted to find a caffeine-free, all-natural, sugar-free beverage. In a very large pitcher filled with cold water, I put a 1/4 cup of these hibiscus flowers, with 1 cinnamon stick, 1/2 teaspoon of organic stevia, and a squirt of lime juice. Let it soak overnight and you have an INCREDIBLE tasting beverage in the morning. No boiling. All you need to do is stain before you drink.
