About Baronet Coffee
Over 90 years and four generations later, Baronet Coffee continues to operate using the founder’s simple business philosophy – provide customers with coffee made from the top 5% of beans and continually exceed their service expectations, and you will have a customer for life. We welcome you to taste the tradition of Baronet Coffee. We’re sure you’ll find its rich character mirrors the commitment of two brothers who used to say, ‘One cup invites another.'

What Is A Coffee Pod?
A traditional 61 millimeter round coffee pod brews a single cup of coffee. Coffee Pods are made out of filter paper and fresh coffee (no plastic!) Here at Baronet we recommend brewing with 5-10 oz of water per cup for the best experience!

What Machine Can I Use To Brew A Pod?
There are multiple coffee makers on the market today that can brew a Coffee Pod. Some examples include: Bunn My Cafe, Suncana, Newco FreshKup, SENSEO Original XL Coffee Pod Machine
We DO NOT recommend using a K-cup machine.

Can A Pod Get Me The Strong Cup Of Coffee I Am Looking For?
Absolutely Yes!!!
If you are one of the many coffee drinkers who are looking for a strong cup of coffee a Coffee Pod is a great option! Coffee Pods are designed to extract as many coffee solids as possible!
To get the strength you are looking for we recommend brewing with 6 oz. of water!

Small Batch Roasting For Highest Quality Level
Baronet Coffee honors our commitment to quality by focusing on small batch roasting. This allows us to hold low levels of inventory so that the coffee you receive is as fresh as possible!

Four Generations
Isedore and Nathan Goldsmith founded the Manhattan Coffee And Sugar Company in 1918. The warehouse was located in Long Island City, and the business consisted of a truck from which the brothers sold bulk coffee and sugar, door to door. By 1930, the company had a fleet of 13 trucks and 20 employees. The grim days of the Great Depression made one thing clear- quality coffee was a luxury Americans could always afford. The Goldsmith brothers later purchase Baronet Coffee in Hartford, Connecticut in 1947.

Four Generations
Isedore’s son, Leon (2nd generation), joins the company after graduating from New York University. He sees an opportunity to bring Baronet’s high-quality coffee to the office market and begins plans to expand the business. This new division is named 'Bruce’s Coffee Service Plan USA,' after Leon’s newborn son.

Four Generations
Bruce (3rd Generation) joins his parents in the family business after graduating from Union College and working at Procter & Gamble.
Once again, a new generation of Goldsmith leadership ushers in new plans for the company’s continuous growth. Bruce becomes instrumental in developing the specialty coffee program, successfully branding the Baronet name, and expanding the company’s geographical reach through distributor programs.

Four Generations
This is a milestone year for us at Baronet Coffee! Our family has just completed 100 years in the coffee business and Alex, the fourth generation, just joined the Baronet team. Isedore and Nathan Goldsmith would be amazed to see Baronet today. We think they would be very proud.

Product Description
In 1930 two brothers from Europe brought a wonderful old world coffee-making process to America. They soon discovered that their great tasting cup of coffee was the only “luxury” many ordinary people could afford in those grim days of the Great Depression. Understanding how important their coffee was to their customers, the brothers demanded that it live up to a higher standard. Now, three generations later, their family continues that tradition of excellence. Our loyal customers have come to love a brew that is crafted from the highest quality Arabica beans, slow roasted to perfection by Baronet’s master roaster. Now, this great coffee is available to you in single serve coffee pods. Our individually wrapped coffee pods will stay fresh, down to the last pod in the box. This allows you to keep several of our outstanding varieties in your kitchen, without worrying about getting to the bottom of the bag. Taste the tradition of Baronet Coffee! You’re sure to find its rich character mirrors the commitment of two brothers who used to say, “One cup invites another.”

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2012First of all, let's get the discussion about packaging and quality out of the way. I have always kept my opened pods in zip-lock bags anyway, and I use them up within a few days so getting loose pods in a larger bag is not a problem.
I have also run across an average of about one unsealed, leaking coffee pod out of every two to three bags but never one I couldn't still use. This is the only reason I didn't give a 5-star review.
With that covered, let me say that this is the best coffee I have ever made at home! I ran into the Baronet coffees by trial and error after the sudden temporary shortage of Senseo pods and have never looked back. I use a Senseo 7810 pod brewer and use two of these at a time, pulse-brewed into a large cup and it makes a good, rich cup of coffee with crema cap and tasty faint elements of leather and chocolate, slightly bitter as expected with dark roasted coffees but no unpleasant aftertaste.
The Baronet pods are perfect replacements for the Senseo brand in every way - they are amazingly close to the same diameter and depth - and I prefer the taste of the Baronet brand. I have Subscribe and Save orders for both the Baronet Fair Trade Organic French Dark Roast and the Baronet Dark Kenya AA Dark Roast Coffees.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2012The Good:
This has been the best coffee I've had for my Senseo, by far. I like strong coffee, and this fits the bill. I've never had a problem with the size of the pod, as others have mentioned, and it works fine in the single cup tray. This makes a great cup!
The Bad:
I've ordered six bags of pods, now, and each bag has had at least one pod that was not sealed correctly and leaked all over the bag. You can tell that it's a manufacturing defect when looking at it, and not a problem in shipping. In several years of buying the Senseo brand pods, I'd never had this problem. In the latest bag, one pod had an inch along the edge that just hadn't been sealed. I sent Baronet an email and never heard back from them. Therefore, I think this may be my last Baronet purchase. If not for the leaking pods, this would've been a 5-star review.
Update as of May, 2014:
I never heard back from emails to Baronet, however, the pods have definitely improved. I'm changing my review to 5 stars. The coffee is strong and great tasting, and I've ordered the 3-pack at least 5 times since my initial review. I've not had any problems with the pods that I did in the past. I'm now a fan, and continue to order Baronet.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2011This is a totally enjoyable dark roast coffee, but Baronet has chosen to sell it in a "fair trade" bag that contains 8 unprotected pods and drastically shortens the shelf life of the coffee once you open the bag. If you drink 3+ cups of coffee a day and only drink this variety, this is fine because you'll use up all the coffee pods in less than 3 days. But if you like to choose from several varieties of coffee pods, and drink only 1-2 cups a day,it's a definate minus and totally anti-consumer. One of the most important advantages of single-pod packed coffee is the freshness and aroma that's assured when you tear open the bag. This form of packaging is the equivilent of using your mother's Maxwell House coffee in a 1-pound can that often stayed around the house for months.
At least give the customer a choice of packagings!
SUGGESTION FOR CONSUMERS: DON'T BUY ANY COFFEE SOLD IN THESE BAGS!!!
SUGGESTION FOR AMAZON: DON'T SELL ANY POD COFFEE THAT'S NOT PACKAGED IN SEAL INDIVIDUAL SERVINGS!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2012The packaging in the pods is terrible and at least half of the bags have ruptured pods. This leaves loose grounds in the package and contaminates the remaining pods so they are unusable. The loose coffee will eventually clog the filter basket and backup a pod machine. I have complained about this several times and can't seem to get anyone to take notice.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2012I purchase this product frequently because it is fair trade and quite good. However, the last 6 or 9 (or maybe more) packages I have opened have had at least one pod that is not sealed. As a result there is loose coffee over all the other pods and, of course, I have paid for one pod less than i have received. This has not been the case with other bags of this brand, nor of the boxes. Only this flavor.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2013This pod fits the Senseo, a very nice little coffee/ espresso maker that Keurig has just about nudged out of the market. Fair trade and organic are bonuses-- and it's fundamentally a good dark roast. If it were a little less expensive I'd give it five stars. And-- no disprespect to Folgers, but I have higher standards for coffee, and this meets the bar. BTW, if you can snag a Senseo somewhere, do it. Or send me the link so I can stash one for the future. ;-) Anyway, I'm pretty happy with most of the Baronet varieties, so don't be afraid to check them out.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2016This is a great organic alternative to Senseo brand coffee. The flavor is full and the price reasonable.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2014I have been ordering these coffee pods for a long time and have always been very satisfied. I have seen other reviews about broken pods and while it has happened to me on occasion, I never complained. But this time two pods were broken and it was a real mess. It will take some time to clean off all the other pods so none of the coffee grounds get into my Senseo coffee maker. I expect some sort of credit will be issued to me for this problem and I hope someone will look into the matter of better quality control. Thank you,
Margot' Schmitz
