There were two gluten-free regrets I've always had: I miss my beer and Pop-tarts (TM).

Now, there are at least four brands of beer I can imbibe without breaking my diet, and, FINALLY, there are toaster pastries that are now gluten-free.

I am so grateful to Glutino for bridging the gap, I am tempted to just throw them five stars without a second thought.

However, as good as it is to break the gluten-free mold, and they have done it, the crust overwhelms the taste of the fruit filling. The same is true of their apple cinnamon flavor, too.

Don't get me wrong, I am still going to get more of these toaster pastries, but I'll be waiting until someone gets it right, so it won't go down so dry, and the fruit will break through the crust like the gluten counterparts.

*** Addendum: This new addition of Glutino Gluten-Free Frosted Toaster Pastries has bridged the flavor gap and come out on top! Way to go, Glutino!

My son is autistic and we are doing as many gluten-free, organic, and non-GMO as possible. There is another brand of gluten-free poptart type thingies that we buy in bulk elsewhere, which are also organic, but I saw these here and thought I'd give them a try. They were an add-on item. They're a bit pricey for only 5 pastries. I thought the 5 meant 5 two-packs, like with the other brand we usually get or regular poptarts, but 5 means 5 total, so be aware of that. My son liked these. He wouldn't let me take a bite, so I have to go based on his reaction. He self-limits his diet, so if he likes these, then I think pretty much anyone will. I will keep buying the others we usually get, but if they weren't available and I needed a good portable snack for my son, I would buy these again.

I wasn't much of a Pop Tarts eater before getting diagnosed with Celiac, so these toaster pastries(we call them Glu Tarts in our house) aren't a replacement for Pop Tarts for me. If you're looking for a GF replacement for a frosting covered Pop Tart I don't think you'll be happy with these toaster pastries. But if you're looking for a plain old GF toaster pastry, these are really very good. I much prefer the Apple Cinnamon to the Strawberry. I have re-purchased the Apple Cinnamon, but would never get the Strawberry again. The Strawberry ones taste more like apple with a smack of strawberry. The Apple Cinnamon taste like Apple Cinnamon. When toasted long enough (3 or 4 minutes in my toaster), the crust turns a nice golden brown. Though I haven't tried it yet, I think a freshly toasted Apple Cinnamon one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top would be a yummy dessert!

I have had 4 or so boxes of these toaster pastries and have not had the trouble with mold that some other reviewers have had.

I buy these from Amazon and they are also readily available in grocery stores in my area.

I seriously asked the Universe why if there were GF granola bars, dinner rolls and baguettes, cake, brownies, pasta, mac & cheese frozen dinners, even gravy, couldn't there be poptarts? It's the junk food from my childhood I missed most.

Then, one day at a Sprouts (which is like a small Whole Foods, with a couple of aisles of gf carbs in various forms), I saw the box. I didn't buy it then, though. Weeks would go by. While shopping on Amazon I remembered the poptarts and decided to add them to my order. I was thrilled. I waited in a disbelieving anticipation.

When the order arrived I immediately opened the box and stuck two of the pastries into my toaster. The smell of heating strawberry flavored corn syrup filled the kitchen and I had childhood flashbacks to happy days of sweet treats for breakfast. I bit into the pastry and joyfully chewed. Like most gf products the "wheat" part was dry, much drier than even a discount/knockoff poptart. It crumbled in my fingers even as I pushed it into my mouth. When this happens with gf products I remind myself I'm eating it anyway, why does it matter if it crumbles before it gets to my mouth. Sadly, also like many processed gf products this was oversweet -- but in a bland way that always confuses me when I try new gf products. Another weird thing is that the pastry is tough, requiring a certain amount of tugging in some places, even as it crumbles in others (and all over the plate, my hands, my lap, my floor...). I'm sure they left off the icing because of the intense sweetness of the filling and pastry...but that's part of what made it so disappointing and so dry.

I really can't recommend this. Maybe poptarts need to just be something left to nostalgia...

I was really excited to try these. I haven't had a toaster pastry since I was a little kid, and I remember loving them. I also generally like Glutino products -- their pie crust is excellent. Unfortunately these toaster pastries were a big disappointment.

    They toasted up nicely.

The crust of the pastry was really dry and crumbly. They were also really bland.

There was barely any filling in the middle. There was a super thin layer of the filling and a big air pocket above it. It was almost as if the filling had evaporated. It looked nothing like the picture on the box. I love apple and cinnamon flavors, but there just wasn't enough filling to overcome the lack of flavor and dryness of the pastry crust.

Two stars because they were edible. I wouldn't buy these again for the price.
